A Day Of Lessons

Let me tell you about some lessons learned today:

1. When you're 37 years old, going to bed at 2:00 AM, only to be woken up at 7:00 AM so that you can meet up with friends for coffee is never a good idea.

2. If you're running on a few hours' sleep and you're going to meet up with friends at 7:00 AM, a "venti" from Starbucks is in order, not a "grande".

3. There are no coincidences; that's God connecting people and opportunity.

4. Everything happens in God's time- not ours.

5. Arguing with someone regarding a subject you know a great deal about (and assuming they know nothing about) may end up producing a lesson in humility. Even experts are wrong, sometimes.

6. God views the anger in our hearts as murder. While we may not actually kill another human being, the feelings of anger and hatred we deal with on a daily basis are cut from the same cloth as murder. This isn't far off, it's right in my face, in my daily life.

Matthew 5:21-26 (English Standard Version)

21 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.' 22But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, 'You fool!' will be liable to the hell of fire. 23 So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 25 Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison. 26Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.

Good Night
