Welcome Home!

After staying up entirely too late last night, I found myself fighting to stay asleep at 9:00 AM. My wife convinced me to get moving, with the necessity of assisting our friend move into her new place (and the promise of having Starbucks for breakfast was alluring).

After a quick jaunt to the store, we assisted our friend. It was awesome; so much better than her last home. This new pad was classy, spacious and we hope she forms many new happy memories there, as recollections of her past dwelling slip quietly behind her.

After she went through the fire (literally) this month, the Lord has steadily brought her through the restoration process. In many ways, her new beginning leaves her better off than she was before. He is a good God!

As we were leaving for the day. we took a picture of her pool. How refreshing that will be on a ninety degree day!

Revelation 21:1-5

1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

5He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

Isaiah 61:2-4 (New International Version)

2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.

Once home, the kids dug into video games and lunch, while my wife and I worked on our eldest son's room. He returns home from camp tomorrow and we've been busy refreshing his digs while he was out of town, so it's "appropriate" for a teenage man-child. Gone are the loathsome bunk beds and trashy foldaway table for his television. We think his room turned out pretty well and we hope he really likes what we've done with the place. One thing's for certain; it's a lot cleaner now, than when he left!

A common theme tonight? God brings restoration to his children. If you're experiencing hardships right now, stay faithful! Help is coming!

Good Night
