Tonight, my daughter was told to get ready for bed and get into it for the night. It was a simple instruction; go to sleep. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Just get ready for bed and go to sleep.
She didn't listen. Instead, she went downstairs to get some water and do her own thing. Instead of getting ready for bed and going to sleep, she went and played with the cat. In the process, the cat scratched her face, dangerously close to her eye. In the end, she was fine. The scratch barely missed her eye (but laced her cheek) and she was able to calm down and eventually go to bed. It could have been worse, but I'm thankful it wasn't. Still, I found myself saying "If you would only listen to me, you wouldn't have been hurt".
How many times does God say that to us? Maybe it's time to be obedient and listen to what God is telling us to do. It's really for our own benefit, right?
Good Night
