Building Gates (and Relationships)

It's after 10:30 tonight as I sit down to the keyboard. I'm pretty happy with the result of the day. After an impromptu lunch with my beautiful wife, the work day became a little brighter. After work, the sun was shining and the sound of children laughing and playing was in the air. Summer is finally here!

Papa Murphy's pizza was on tap for dinner tonight. It was pretty tasty and the fact that we had a neighbor boy over as a guest made this family dinner a little more fun. Great kids and good food go well together.

Afterward, everyone went outside to enjoy the weather; the kids went to the neighbor's house to assist him with weeding and cleanup under his deck. My wife was weeding and planting things in our own flower beds and I was zipping in the final screws to the gate that our neighbor more than assisted in building (THANK YOU, Bob!). We were all working into the cool of the evening and once the work was complete, we gathered together on lawn chairs in the driveway for some neighborhood gossip.

We talked about our yards, a block party BBQ we'd like to plan this year. We also discussed riding ATV's and restoring old cars. I think our neighbor enjoyed chatting with all of us as much as we liked talking with him. It's great to build meaningful relationships. Isn't that what life's all about?

Good Night
