"Nerds and Free Spirits Unite" was the theme of tonight's Dave Ramsey financial class. We learned about the importance of compromising with our spouse on budgeting, planning, saving, etc. We explored terms like "security" and what they mean to us, and our mates. There was very useful information for Singles and financial principles for kids as well.
Putting together our initial "quickie budget" was easy- but served as a reality check as to where most of our money was going each month on essentials. Sadly, the numerical value of our essentials nearly rivaled my paycheck. That was without calculating credit card payments, allowances for clothing, etc. Our next lesson promises to launch into a more detailed budget, which will account for paying off debt, calculating "blow money", and assigning every other dollar of our cashflow to a specific purpose.
It's scary. We're not sure of how we'll do it, but we're putting our trust in the Lord and we will do it!
Proverbs 22:6-7 (New International Version)
6 Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
7 The rich rule over the poor,
and the borrower is slave to the lender.
Good Night
