Family Matters

As the weekend came to a close this afternoon, my wife and I decided to shake things up a bit. Normally, we would perform a chore here or there, and the kids would play video games as the afternoon wound down. It was different today.

First, we took both dogs for a walk. While that's "normal" for most families, our dogs (and sadly, their owners at times) are sedentary. This was a great opportunity to get out of the house for some fresh air and a change of scenery.

After we returned from our walk, my wife and I surprised the kids by having them pile into the car for an impromptu trip to Baskin Robbins. Their eyes lit up as they pondered all of the available flavors and toppings. After ice cream, it was back home for some Winter Wipeout on the DVR (we all piled on our bed, and chose our favorite contestant to cheer for). Although it was just a simple series of small activities, I'm certain the kids fell asleep with happy hearts and fond memories of their day.

That's what makes everything else that happens throughout the week worthwhile. Family matters.

Good Night
