We officially started the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University course this evening. We're actually heading into our third class on Thursday (we enrolled late and are catching up), but tonight's lesson was our first: Start saving.
There were so many "aha!" moments, and common-sense applications packed into the lesson that we closed out the evening excited and energized. A light bulb went off. Living a broke, debt-riddled life should never occur to the "average American", yet most of us find that we're traveling along that path; little to no savings, and no concrete plans for handling emergencies, or purchases. That is no way to live.
We deserve better. Our children deserve better.
Although this is promised to be a slow and painful (yet highly rewarding) process, my wife and I have accepted the challenge. We're hopeful that this paradigm shift of financial planning and practicing integrity in our daily choices changes our lives for the better.
Proverbs 21:20 (Amplified Bible)
There are precious treasures and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a self-confident and foolish man swallows it up and wastes it.
Good Night
